Repair Guide: How to Darn a Sock
Fix the Hole. Keep Them Working.
In a world that's quick to throw things away, there's value in fixing what you already own. A good pair of socks doesn't stop earning its keep just because it's worn thin in one spot.
Darning a sock is simple. It doesn't take long, and it brings a well used pair straight back into rotation.
Stretch the sock over a round object - a jar, a cup, whatever's handy. This gives the fabric structure and keeps it taut while you work. Thread your needle, tie a knot in the end, and push the needle up from inside the sock so the knot stays hidden.
Start small, picking up a single stitch along the edge of the hole. Then weave back and forth, slowly building a patch that mirrors the original knit. As you reach the top of the hole, gently draw the thread tighter, bringing the stitches together until the gap closes.
Tie it off, trim the excess, turn the sock back the right way - and you're done.
No drama. No waste. Just a solid repair that keeps your gear in play.
Because looking after what you own is part of the deal.
And things worth wearing are worth fixing.
