Care Guide: Wool Bushshirts
Our classic bushshirts are designed for durability, comfort, and longevity. Looking after the wool fibres properly will extend the life of your garment and reduce unnecessary wear.
Recommended Care
-
Spot clean and air when possible
For small spills and everyday dirt, spot cleaning helps preserve fibres and saves water. -
Cold hand wash only, when needed
Use a wool specific detergent - it's kinder to fibres and won't leave a gritty residue. - Rinse thoroughly
-
Gently squeeze out excess water
Do not rub or wring. - Dry flat in the shade
- Warm iron inside out, if required
- Fabric softeners are not to be used for wool
Cold water not only reduces energy use but also helps ensure the wool does not shrink.
Dry cleaning is possible, but hand washing is recommended where practical to help minimise chemical use and environmental impact.
Wash Less, Wear Longer
Wool naturally resists odour and bacteria, so your bush shirt won't need washing as often as other garments. Hanging it outside on a sunny day is often all it needs to freshen up after wear - especially after damp or muddy outings.
Repair, Don't Replace
From March 2025, every Swanndri wool bush shirt comes with a matching wool repair patch, made from the same high quality fabric as your garment.
This makes it easy to mend small holes or snags and keep your bush shirt going for years to come - a simple but powerful way to reduce waste and honour Swanndri's Engineered for Generations philosophy.
A good repair adds character - and tells the story of where your Swanni's been.
